Lotto.com Brings Digital Scratch-Offs

Lotto.com Brings Digital Scratch-Offs and Ticket Orders to Massachusetts

Massachusetts residents now have a new way to purchase lottery tickets online. Lotto.com has officially expanded into the state, announcing its launch on October 3. This makes Massachusetts the 11th state where Lotto.com operates. Through the app, users can order draw tickets and try digital scratch-offs.

Lotto.com’s entry gives Massachusetts players another convenient option for purchasing lottery tickets. The app allows users to place orders for draw games and access digital scratch-offs, streamlining the lottery experience. Massachusetts consistently ranks as the top state for lottery sales per capita, making this move a perfect fit.

How Lotto.com Works

Lotto.com functions as a lottery courier, offering a simple process for purchasing tickets online. Players order tickets for draw games or scratch-offs, and the company buys the ticket on their behalf. The ticket is stored securely, and confirmation is sent to the player.

Prizes under $600 are credited directly to the player’s account. For larger amounts, Lotto.com delivers the physical ticket to the player for in-person redemption. In Massachusetts, Lotto.com offers four draw games:

  • Powerball
  • Mega Millions
  • Lucky for Life
  • Mass Cash

Lotto.com also offers three digital scratch-off games: $10,000,000 Cash Blast, Bonus 100x, and Lifetime Millions. Unlike state-offered e-Instants, Lotto.com’s scratch-offs rely on physical tickets. After placing an order, players must wait for the ticket to be purchased before revealing the digital result.

Massachusetts provides a prime market for Lotto.com due to its high lottery sales. The service promises increased convenience while supporting state-funded programs through lottery revenue.

Competition in the Lottery Courier Industry

Lotto.com faces competition from other services in Massachusetts. Jackpocket and Jackpot.com also offer lottery courier services in the state.

Jackpocket, which launched in Massachusetts in July 2023, leads the market. It operates in 17 states, Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico. However, it lacks digital scratch-off tickets, which both Lotto.com and Jackpot.com provide. While Jackpocket doesn’t offer instant tickets in Massachusetts, it does in some other states.

Jackpot.com entered the Massachusetts market in January 2024. It offers digital scratch-offs, similar to Lotto.com. Currently, Jackpot.com operates in six states, although its market coverage is smaller than Jackpocket’s.

There are differences in how these companies handle tickets. A Colorado Lottery audit noted that Jackpocket provides users with a scanned image of their ticket. Lotto.com, however, offers only a digital receipt and confirmation of the player’s numbers.
